Report

Reason For Falling Sales And The Lack Of Trade

Terms of reference
I was asked by Mr. Ong Chee Meng , Sales Director of Giant Hypermarket in order to write a report about reason for falling sales and the lack of trade. This report is needed by 26 October 2009.

Proceedings/Procedures
To find out about the reasons for falling sales and the lack of trade, I conducted a interview with customers as they leave the supermarket. The question asked include:
· What do you think of the quality of our products?
· What do you think the range of our products?
· What do you think of the helpfulness of our staff?
· What do you think of facilities (café, toilets)?
· How do we compare with other hypermarkets?

Findings
Based on the interview and customers survey, I have found that:
· Majority of customers were satisfied with the quality of our products. A total of 112 customers feel that the quality of our products are fair and only 8 customers are not satisfied with the quality of our products. However, there are 40 customers don’t know about this.
· We have 80 customers think that the range of our products are very good, 268 of customers think that are fair only and 106 customers think that the range of our products are poor. However, there are 43 customers don’t know about this.
· 195 of customers find that our staff are very helpfulness,239 of customers find that our staff’s helpfulness are fair only and 24 of customers find that our staff’s helpfulness is poor. However, there are 42 of customers don’t know about this.
· Majority of customers thinks that our facilities are fair. A total of 54 customers feel that our facilities are very good and 118 customers are not satisfied with our facilities. However, there are 44 customers don’t know about this.
· Majority of customers thinks that we are very good compare to other hypermarkets. 297 of customers thinks that we are fair only compare to other hypermarket and 138 of customers thinks that are poor. However, there are 24 of customers don’t know about this.

Conclusions
It can generally be assumed that several customers commented about the slow service in all departments of our hypermarket particularly at the cashiers counter, a lack of cleanliness in the café and the toilet were often closed or dirty.

Recommendations
I would suggest that:
· Streamlined operations and sales practices.
· Provide courses for the poor service staff.
· Improved order fulfillment and supplier relations to provide more products to consumer.
· Povide more facilities in our hypermarket especially in café and toilet and make sure the place are clean always.

Our Business Plan...

Pets are lovable characters that are appreciated by many people in the world. They are considered by some to be a man's best friend. Nowadays, most people are willing to spend money for their “fur children’. So, I’m planning to market a complete line of pet restaurant to expand the pet’s lifestyle. I’m also planning to provide a complete service for the pets including pets grooming, pets boarding hotel, selling pets accessories and the others. I’m targeting to the middle range customers because most of them have the ability to send their “fur children” to do pets grooming or stylist. The reason why I want to open this kind of business is because most of the pet lovers they would like to have meal together or wish their” fur children” to accompany them. However, there is no any kind of restaurants allow the customers to bring along their pets to the restaurant. As a pet lover, I wish to open this kind of restaurant. Once they send their pets to our pets restaurant to do pets grooming or stylist, they can have tea break in our restaurant.

For your information, I’m planning to open third-storey restaurant. The first floor will be the opening restaurant, the second floor will be the air-condition restaurant and the third floor is used to sell the pet’s accessories and let them do pets grooming. I know it is a brand new restaurant in Malaysia maybe some of them might do not know about this kind of restaurant. To establish brand recognition at the retail level, we are planning to create a blog or website to introduce our restaurant. In addition, we will also do a printed form advertisement about our pets restaurant or direct mail and send it to the residential areas.

This is our roughly idea about our business plan..We’re still gathering more information about the pet restaurant because ”Rome wasn’t built in a day”.

As we know , Malaysia and Singapore are relatively close, and also the diversity of the people and the food almost the same. But what are the differences between Singapore and Malaysia consumers???Let's us explore it together:)

In Singapore the people are very business minded and although they are friendly, their friendliness have been taught in order to help their economy through tourism. But in the hawker center,we can see that most of the Singaporeans will occupy seats by placing tissue packets on the table during busy lunch hours. It is hard to imagine these behaviors. On the other hand,in Malaysia things are not so clean and orderly too but the people are friendlier. They will not occupy seats with tissue packets even in a rush hours...

Singapore is a modern city-state,we can find get many varieties of outlet shops.Such as,adult shops. But in Malaysia we have difficultly in finding this kind of shops. The majority of Malaysians are notably conservative and inflexible than Singaporeans.Besides that,Singaporeans are much more consumeristic and materialistic. Most of them focus on branded products as the defining point of their lives. They also prefer air-conditioned shopping center and focus on good products and services. However,in Malaysia they are more focus on cheaper prices. Most of them like to buy pirated products and it can be found everywhere in Malaysia...

Finally,we wish to discuss about environment or we can called it eco-friendly.Singaporeans are more concerned with environment, they will brings their own green bags to shopping center.Green bags is very important for us,it can prevent global-warming.But in Malaysia, they don't bother too much about the environment or eco-friendly .This shows that the Singaporeans emphasis on environmental protection are much better than Malaysians...

Starbucks trademark has 2 versions, the first version of the brown mark is derived from a 16th century Scandinavian wood carving of the two-tailed mermaid pattern, she has naked breasts and a fully visible double fish tail. After that,Starbucks was merge with the Daily Coffee,so they have to change their trademark again. The second edition of trademarks, follows the original mermaid logo, but made some of the changes, and she did not bare breasts.Besides that,Daily Coffee had also changed the colour of the trademark into green colour. So, the trademark that integrated with the original Starbucks coffee and Daily Coffee features was born. However, the original Starbucks store which is located in Pike Place Market in Seattle,Washington still retains the original trademark
